FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Rain is coming and we need to do all we can to collect and protect it.
LifeStyle Matters host Marilyn Moore talked with Alan Hofmann, general manager of the Metropolitan Flood Control District, about what we can do to help protect our groundwater.
The system is designed to collect rain in our storm drains and then feed it into more than 150 bonding basins in the Fresno area to help recharge our groundwater.
Alan says we need to keep our gutters clear of leaves, trash and debris and don't allow toxins like motor oil, fertilizers, pesticides, paint and chemicals get in the water supply.
What goes down our storm drains could end up in our drinking water. When you pollute, you become part of a cycle that harms the entire community. Protect your water—it’s just beneath your feet.
