The Superintendent of Fresno County schools selects a caring and compassionate senior at Clovis West as his April super star.
Jordan Bouskos excels in the classroom and she's also a peer counselor.
She caught Jim Yovino's attention as a panelist on a recent KMPH Fox 26 town hall meeting on preventing teen suicide.
Bouskos is passionate when it comes to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. "It's something I've always been passionate about.
I actually learned about it through my school and having always been known as someone who likes to be there to talk to friends. It was just something that I found that fit."
Superintendent Yovino was in the audience the night of the town hall and was impressed with her performance. "Seventeen years old and this award is what I told you,
compassion, caring and giving back. I haven't met anyone who can do this in the way that you did in 90 minutes."
Bouskos is a senior at Clovis West with a 4.3 GPA. She says being the superintendent's super star is a reinforcing moment she won't forget.
"It means that what I'm doing is paying off. I'm doing the right thing. I want to help people and if this is a way that people can realize that things are important then
what I'm doing is on the right track then I'm going the right direction."
Bouskos plans to attend Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo this fall.
