Governor Gavin Newsom announced 19 counties must close certain indoor operations effective immediately.

The governor made the announcement on Wednesday during the state COVID-19 update.

Gov. Newsom said affected indoor operations include restaurants, wineries, and tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos and museums, cardrooms, and bars must close all indoor and outdoor operations.

Businesses may modify operations to provide outdoor services or pick-up.

Counties on Monitoring List for 3 Days or More Must Prohibit Indoor Operations in Certain Sectors for a Minimum of 3 Weeks

Fresno, Kern, Kings, Merced, and Tulare are among the 19 counties impacted.

Newsom said beaches in Southern California and the Bay Area must close parking lots but he is not mandating the beaches close.

The guidance applies for a minimum of three weeks and is subject to an extension based on epidemiologic indicators.
