We're beginning to hear more stories about what people evacuating from the Creek Fire went through to get out.
Dorabelle Campground in Shaver Lake is now wrapped in a cloud of smoke.
It's a picture Lupe Alvarez and Bert Minten, two people who were living and working there just days before, were shocked to see.
"We’ve never been through a fire like this before and we just thought it was like a really small fire. I mean we thought we would be back in a few days we left a lot up there," said Alvarez.
"We left our bikes there, a lot of our camping gear- a lot of stuff that’s critical to traveling. Just thinking we were gonna come right back," said Minten.
Those two aren't originally from California; they're form Texas, so when they had to evacuate, they had nowhere to go.
Now, those two are being hosted by a family in Clovis.
"When they got chased out of shaver lake we told them to come on down here and hang out with us because these are their homes this is where they live," explained Jenifer Fisher, who's hosting Alvarez and Minten.
Fisher says other neighbors stated offering to help out, too.
"They brought over big trays of chicken an potatoes and corn and just had a big ole barbecue and half hour 45 minutes she came back with a pie so it was awesome."
Local churches are helping out, too.
Pastor Shawn Beaty at the Clovis Hills Church is letting people park their camper trailers and stay in the church parking lot if they need.
"We have people in our church that have lost their entire house -and they’re here serving other people which is amazing-today I was told a story of a family of 11 that lost everything that had nothing coming down the mountain."
He's also offering food, water, and clothes to those who need it.
Fisher says the whole process is uplifting.
"Makes you feel better and makes them feel better. And that’s what the world’s about. That’s what we need right now. "
