Tayhana Garcia fell in love with the power of communication at an early age. Her mother was on one of the most popular TV shows in the Dominican Republic. As a young girl, Tayhana moved to Florida with her family. In high school, she gave the morning announcements every day and, in her college/university years, she had a double major in Communications and Business Administration and a double minor in Theology and Fashion Design. She hosted and produced her own two shows on campus television WSTU.
While still in college, Tayhana worked for local television shows in Miami, including those on GenTV and Miami Latin TV. After a short stint in radio, she moved to Los Angeles to work in television. It wasn’t long before she accepted a job offer from Univision 21 in Fresno where she worked as an MMJ, shooting, writing, and produced her own stories each day.
Tayhana is now part of the “FOX26, Your Hometown News Connection” team as a reporter on the FOX26 News program “Great Day”.
She has covered many stories with national impact, such as Hurricane Irma in Miami, devastating California fires in Detwiler, Mariposa, and other places, Fidel Castro’s death, and Presidential visits to the Valley.
Tayhana is also a 9-time Emmy nominee and winner. She is passionate about her community. She says,“Seeing the struggle others go through every day only makes one a little more human, every second of the way”.
Tayhana asks that if you see her in the community, please say hi! If you have a story idea, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
