Strathmore preps to make history, host 6-A state championship game

The Strathmore Spartans will host St. Patrick-St. Vincent in the California 6-A football state championship game.

There are only 26 California high school football teams practicing this week, and perhaps none of them in a town smaller than Strathmore. With a population of less than 3,000 people, Strathmore sits between Lindsay and Porterville, at the base of the Sequoia foothills. The town boasts a group of Spartans that's gone 14-0 this year, already winning the D-VI Valley Championship, and now on the verge of becoming the first Tulare County state champ in football.

Strathmore hosts St. Patrick-St. Vincent of Vallejo in the 6-A title game. Kickoff is set for 6:00 Saturday night.
