Strathmore loses state championship in heartbreaking fashion

Strathmore suffered their first loss of the season, in heartbreaking fashion, in the 6-A State Championship game against St. Patrick-St. Vincent.

Playing in front of a packed crowd at Spartan Stadium, Strathmore led St. Patrick-St. Vincent the entire 6-A State Championship game - until the final six seconds. That's when the Bruins kicked an 18-yard field goal to take a 29-28 lead. Strathmore finishes the season 14-1, D-VI Valley Champs, and winners of a regional bowl game.

In the first half, Strathmore got two rushing scores from junior Joseph Garcia, and two passing connections from junior Nick Salas to junior Andres Lara. The Spartans led the Bruins 28-14 at the break, but their offense could not get much of anything going in the second half.
