Renewing the rivalry
The football series between Fresno State and Hawaii has produced legendary events that fuel the rivalry.
As the teams prepare for their 50th meeting Saturday night in Honolulu, we are reminded of the flying screwdriver.
There is also the time one of Fresno State's team buses broke down on the way to the game. And that day the scheduled police escort failed to show up.
Each game seems to produce another memory. Perhaps this year something will come out of the fact that Jeff Tedford and Nick Rolovich were once the starting quarterbacks for the programs they now coach.
The rivalry has also produced several exciting games.
Fresno State leads the series with 26 wins against 22 for Hawaii, and one tie.
