Opening Night for Grizzlies

Baseball's Fresno Grizzlies open another Pacific Coast League season Thursday night when they host the Reno Aces.

It will begin the team's 20th season in Fresno.

Some of the Grizzlies' players are in a tough spot. Because the parent club Houston Astros have a roster stacked with young, talented stars, it is hard for the Grizzlies' players to break through.

Many may be disappointed to be starting the season in Triple-A Fresno, but manager Tony DeFrancesco is offering advice.

He is telling his guys to play their hardest so they will be ready when called up to the MLB team as a promotion or an injury replacement.

The Grizzlies have several players with Major League experience on their roster, and return many stars who were on the team in recent seasons.
