Diamond Dogs set to host PAC 12 foe Oregon in season opener

Austin Guibor and the Fresno State Diamond Dogs will host Oregon in a scheduled four-game series to open the 2017 season.

The Fresno State baseball team has it's eyes on the skies this weekend. The Bulldogs are set to open their new season with a four game series against Oregon - if the weather cooperates. Assuming they do get in some games, it will mark the first time the Diamond Dogs will have opened against a Power 5 school since 2010.

The opportunity to host the Ducks is not something Fresno State takes lightly. Wearing a shirt that read, 'GRIT' across the chest, senior Austin Guibor said, "they got the big name, they got the Nike contract, they got all the different uniforms and stuff, but I think we bring a little more toughness to the table."

Head coach Mike Batesole added, "We don't have our school's fight song going down the pinstripes of our pants - but that doesn't mean that we don't have good, tough baseball players."

The games are scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 1:05 p.m. Sunday, and then again at 6:05 p.m. Monday night.
