CIF Central Section Boys Semi-Finals

Wednesday was a nerve-wracking night for twenty Valley boys high school basketball teams, and they are all vying to be among the final ten who get to this weekend's championship games.

FOX26 Sports reporter Nick King covered the semifinals and lets us know which teams are going to the finals at Selland Arena in downtown Fresno.

It’s the last step on the road to Selland and we had four local teams trying to get back there for the second year in a row.

That included Central, the defending champs and top seed in Division I.

The Grizzlies put the press on Liberty early and caused havoc, winning 85-66.

It will be a rematch of the football Valley title after Bakersfield best Bullard, becoming the first Kern County D-1 team to reach Selland.

In Division II, the San Joaquin Memorial Panthers hosted the Independence Falcons.

Memorial has some great young talent who lead the Panthers to an 82-60 win over the Falcons.

The Panthers will play Ridgeview Friday night after the Wolf Pack topped Redwood 85-67 in Bakersfield.

In Division III, the Sanger boys were trying to join their girls team, who won Tuesday night.

Sanger beat West by a score of 62-57 and will take on top seeded Selma Saturday afternoon.

In Division IV, the Immanuel Eagles of Reedley beat Bishop Union 79-53 and will take on 2nd seeded Madera South after that beat Kerman 80-70.

In Division V, where we got our lone upset of the evening, 2nd seeded Fresno Christian fell to 11th seeded Caruthers by a score of 55-51.

They will play #1 California City, who went to overtime with Dos Palos before pulling away to win 85-72.
