Central boys, Clovis West girls headline basketball Valley Championships

The crowd at Selland Arena in downtown Fresno for the boys D-I title game between Central and Bakersfield.

On day two of the Valley Championships at Selland Arena in downtown Fresno, there were plenty of familiar faces. The Central Grizzlies won the boys division one title for the second year in a row, while the Clovis West girls won the girls D-I title for the fifth year in a row. In division four, the Immanuel boys found themselves champions for the fourth year in a row (one in D-V, three in D-IV).

Then, there was the Selma boys and Madera girls winning in D-III a year after both teams lost in the championship game. For the Bears, it marked the first boys basketball section title since 1914. Sierra Pacific isn't nearly that old as a school - but still some history for the Golden Bears, as their girls team won in D-IV, for the program's first section title.
