VIDEO: Lightning strikes telephone pole in Chicago

Lightning strike in Chicago

This week, most of the nation is scorching hot. Before the record-high temperatures, a line of storms rolled into Illinois, creating incredible light shows as people were driving Sunday.

Anja Englert captured video of lightning striking a telephone pole above the road she was driving on. The strike created an intense fireball, followed by a shower of wooden splinters.

The storms caused problems for Chicago's commuter train system. Reports of trees and debris on the tracks caused some delays and sparks.
