Two Hmong New Year celebrations in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) —
It's time once again to mark the Hmong New Year.
But this year, you will have twice the opportunity to do it because there are two different celebrations taking place in Fresno.
With traditional dance performances, colorful native dress, competitions, a beauty pageant and lots of food, the Hmong Cultural New Year Celebration is taking place at the Fresno Fairgrounds.
Meanwhile, at the Granite Park Sports Complex on Cedar Ave., the longtime organizer of the annual event is hosting its own Hmong International New Year Celebration where cultural foods, shows and a beauty pageant will also be on display.
The Hmong International New Year at Granite Park runs through January 1st.
General admission is $4 and children 6 and under, seniors, those in wheelchairs, the military and Fresno County employees all get in for free.
The Hmong Cultural New Year Celebration at the Fresno Fairgrounds also runs through January 1st.
General admission is $5 and $3 for those 62 and over, plus military personnel with ID.
