Toddler, man killed in Highway 201 crash
A toddler and a 22-year-old man were killed in a two car crash on Highway 201 at Road 64 Thursday night, according to California Highway Patrol.
Police say the crash happened at an intersection when a 1999 Nissan drove into the path of a 1976 GMC. CHP says the driver of the GMC tried to break, but was unable to avoid the crash. The force of the crash sent the Nissan into a power pole, where the pole sheared in two and lines fell onto the ground.
Cipriano Munoz, 49, was not hurt. He was driving the GMC.
The driver of the Nissan, 23-year-old Monica Escamilla, was taken to the hospital for moderate injuries. The two killed were passengers in the Nissan and have not been identified.
CHP says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved in the crash.
