Three people killed in Highway 41 crash in Kings County

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed three people Saturday night in Kings County.

Officers say 21-year-old Tyler Veeneman of Avenal was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse northbound on Highway 41, near York Avenue around 8:30 p.m.

At one point, officers say, the Eclipse veered into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Ford F-150, driven by 65-year-old Luis Mendoza of Tulare.

The crash killed the two passengers in the Eclipse and a passenger in the truck.

The Highway Patrol identifies the two killed in the Eclipse as a 22-year-old man from Hanford and a 23-year-old man.

A 56-year-old woman from Tulare was killed in the Ford truck.

Veeneman was flown to a hospital in Fresno.

Mendoza was taken to a hospital in Visalia.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
