Tanker fire shuts down Fresno overpass
FRESNO, Calif. —
A tanker caught fire in Fresno, prompting the closure of an overpass above Hwy. 99 early Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the fire started around midnight. The tanker's tires caught fire on the Central Ave. overpass. Firefighters put out the fire using a foam product. No one was hurt.
The tanker was hauling several thousand gallons of fuel when it caught fire. Environmental Health workers were called in to assist with cleanup efforts. The Central overpass was closed for several hours before reopening Tuesday morning.
