Shooting near First and Gettysburg in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) —
UPDATE: First Street between Ashlan and Gettysburg is now open after a shooting and crash at First and Ashcroft.
A car hit a tree in the center divider, pinning one person inside.
Three people in the car were hurt and taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
Chief Jerry Dyers says it does not appear the three passengers were shot but he is waiting to hear back from the hospital.
Chief Dyer did confirm the driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, died at the scene.
It’s unknown at this time if his death is from a gunshot or the crash.
Chief Dyer says he believes an altercation started at a pizza parlor near Gettysburg and First, which led to the shooting.
Police are looking for two males believed to have fired the shots.
First Street will remain closed until about 5:00 p.m. while detectives continue the investigation.
