Selma teen killed in drive-by shooting
A 16-year-old girl is dead following a drive by shooting in Selma.
The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. Thursday on the 1400 block of Mill Street.
Selma officers went to the area for a report of shots fired and found the girl in the driveway of a home.
Officers say she was hit with what appeared to be a small caliber weapon.
They also found several shell casings in the street.
Witnesses say there were about a dozen people in the driveway at the time of the shooting but most of them ran away.
The girl was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno but died a few hours later.
Witnesses said reported a dark colored midsize SUV leave the area at a high rate of speed, but it’s not known at this time if it was involved.
Police do not have a motive for the shooting.
They say the girl was a sophomore at Selma High School with no gang affiliation and no history of contact with law enforcement.
Her name has not been released at this time.
