Security guard remembered at candlelight vigil

Family, friends and even fellow security guards from other companies are remembering a security guard killed on the job.

Carl Williams was shot early Friday morning, at a Motel 6 on Ashlan near Blackstone in Central Fresno.

Williams had been trying to get a couple to follow hotel guidelines, when a man shot and killed him.

Williams was not armed.

Family members comforted each other and shared photos of the 25-year-old outside the hotel.

His supervisor says Williams had actually been at the motel to help another guard.

"He enjoyed to come and coach his guards. When they needed assistance, he would come and assist them. And he did it with a smile on his face," says Robert Sanchez, area manager for Monument Security. "He was good at rationalizing with people."

The man who shot Williams is still on the loose tonight.

The woman who was with the shooter was arrested.
