Report: High lead exposure in parts of Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) —
A new report says that children in one part of Fresno have lead exposure three times as high as those in Flint, Michigan.
The area of greatest concern is in the downtown Fresno area, in the 93701 zip code.
The Reuters report found nearly 14% of children in this area have high lead exposure.
And it doesn't stop there... nine different zip codes in Fresno County had 5% of children showing high levels of lead, equal to that of Flint, Michigan.
Lead is a nuerotoxin that causes irreversible health problems including cognitive impairment and attention disorders in children.
