Police track stolen truck used for store robbery with employee's cell phone

The Reedley Police Department says they were able to arrest two people and track a stolen truck used as a getaway car for a clothing store robbery, thanks to a clothing store employee's cell phone.

Police say the arrested 39-year-old Porfirio Romo of Parlier and 44-year-old Eleazar Rodriguez of Reedley in connection to the JC Michel clothing store robbery.

Police say Romo and Rodriguez ran out of the store with stacks of clothing and drove off in a truck that had been previously stolen. An employee jumped in to the bed of the truck, but was knocked out of it when the truck went over a speed bump. The employee's cell phone fell into the bed of the truck.

Using the phone's location, the truck was found in an orchard outside of Reedley. Romo and Rodriguez were taken into custody two days later, after they were identified in surveillance videos.

None of the stolen merchandise was found. The employee knocked out of the truck was not hurt.
