Fresno police looking for missing 20-year-old
FRESNO, Calif. —
Fresno Police said Tuesday they believe they're investigating more than just a missing person case.
Police first said Lucy Xiong seemed surprised, and are now saying she also screamed when her call dropped on Friday.
Detectives said she got into an argument with her mom around 12:30 early Friday morning, then took off. They said she called her boyfriend about 10 minutes later and he told police it sounded like she was walking on gravel. They say suddenly, she said "Oh [expletive]!" Then screamed.
Detectives said Lucy hasn't been seen since, but they're now searching the canal. That's because they said they got a call Friday around the same time saying there was a woman seen drowning in the canal.
Police said they're also investigating people seen using her card about a dozen times at various locations in and around the Tower District and Madera.
Police said they don't know if Lucy fell into the canal accidentally, or was abducted, or just doesn't want to come home, but there are detectives working on parallel cases.
Lucy's dad, Kor Xiong, made a plea of Fox 26 News, asking for his daughter to just come home. "I miss her," he said. "She's a good girl and if she can hear of see this, we just want her to come home," Xiong said.
