UPDATE: Police investigate homicide in Central Fresno

Police told FOX26 News they were investigating a homicide early Thursday morning.

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) - Fresno Police are now identifying the man who was shot and killed on Thursday morning as 65-year-old Dennis Rozadilla of Fresno.

Police say Rozadilla was shot after having a conversation with a man at the intersection of Glenn and Home Avenues.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives say the suspected shooter drove off but later contacted police about what happened.

The man then drove to Fresno PD headquarters and was interviewed by detectives.

Investigators say based on physical evidence and additional information the suspected shooter was released.

Police say at this time the investigation is on-going and detectives are continuing to review evidence and witness statements.

The incident happened around midnight in a neighborhood near N. Glenn Ave. and E. Home Ave. Police set up yellow markers near a silver-colored car that had a handicapped placard on the license plate.

Officers said persons of interest in the case were being interviewed at the police station in downtown Fresno.
