Co-owner of Superior Dairy in Hanford killed in accident
HANFORD, Calif. (FOX26) —
Friends say Susan Wing loved to help.
The co-owner of Superior Dairy was as known for her willingness to go the extra mile—whether it was a group of school children, or a local animal rescue group.
“That was Susan. She would just give and do," said family friend Mickey Stoddard.
Wing was part of the third generation to own the Downtown Hanford staple.
Superior Dairy was closed most of Monday.
Consider it a combination of utility work, and mourning.
Wing passed away Friday night.
“She received a phone call from a neighbor, responding for help, a seizure," says Lt. James Lutz with Hanford Police.
As she ran across the street to help, police say she narrowly avoided a motorcycle, fell, and was hit by an SUV.
She died a short time later.
"It's one of those freak accidents," Lutz said.
As news of her passing slowly spreads through town, friends and family say they feel privileged.
"An outside person, I would say, missed an opportunity to meet a wonderful lady who was always smiling, always laughing, always had a joke, wanted to hear a joke,” Stoddard said. “She was fun, absolutely fun. I will miss her."
Wing’s husband tells FOX26 the business will remain open because that’s what she would have liked.
Funeral services are pending.
