A man was arrested after he led police on a high-speed pursuit through two counties.

It started Wednesday morning in Fresno near Belmont and Broadway.

Police say an officer originally pulled the man over for speeding and failing to yield in downtown Fresno.

Police say the man then proceeded to drive off and eventually got onto Eastbound Highway 180 and continued onto Highway 41. We're told he went through Fresno and Madera counties.

Police say at one point, the motorcyclist was riding on the sidewalks in the middle of Fresno State's campus.

Police say speeds reached well over 100 miles per hour several times throughout the pursuit.

Law enforcement units did not physically chase him, but the Fresno Police helicopter followed him from above.

Police say the motorcyclist passed on the wrong sides of the road, ran red lights and weaved in and out of traffic.

The 47-year-old man was arrested in downtown Fresno.

The entire pursuit lasted at least a half hour.
