Local business hit with vandalism; Window breaker caught on camera
FRESNO, Calif., —
The owner of a local electronic repair shop says the storefront window was busted. He says this is the third time in a month someone has broken a window at the office building he leases from. To catch the person he set up security cameras. Now he's hoping his video surveillance will help bring the vandalism to an end.
The footage shows a man dressed in black get into position, pull out something and sling a shot. Celestino Gonzales, the owner of C&C Repairs in Fresno says that guy busted a 4 by 6 ft window last Friday. Instead of leaving the scene the guy stuck around.
“He came back about 10 or 15 minutes later. He broke out the glass where my camera was to look at my camera. By doing that he gave me a good shot of his face as well," said Gonzales.
Gonzalez says he is now in $1,000 in the hole to repair the window.
“I can’t really afford a broken window. Thankfully our landlord works with us. They pay to replace and we can pay it back monthly. If I had to pay out of pocket for this right now I couldn't afford it,” said Gonzales.
He says he thinks this guy in the video maybe behind other broken windows at neighboring business in the last month. Gonzales says he's hoping someone knows the guy in the video so that the vandalism in the area will finally stop.
"We don't make a lot of money like Walmart does or something. Anytime something like this happens it comes out of our pocket and it would be nice if he learns a lesson,” said Gonzales.
If you think you know the guy in that video call valley crime stoppers, you may be eligible for a cash reward.
