Body found in roadway Friday morning hit by FAX bus

The bus driver has been identified as 69-year-old Rudy Alderette.

UPDATE: Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says the body found at Shields and Fruit Friday morning was a pedestrian that was hit and killed by a FAX bus.

Chief Dyer said they were able to figure out the cause of death because of surveillance video from a nearby business.

The bus driver has been identified as 69-year-old Rudy Alderette.

The driver was located and questioned and then taken into custody.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor but blood was drawn and will be tested.

Cheif Dyer said the driver will be charged with felony hit and run and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.

The intersection of Shields and Fruit in Fresno was closed Friday morning after a body was found in the roadway.

Police are trying to figure out how the body ended up lying in the road near the intersection.
