Fresno Jewelry store robbed and clerk beaten

Two crooks were caught on camera robbing Oscar's Jewelry and Repair on Blackstone Ave. in Fresno Monday.

Two men entered the store and pretended to be customers.

One of the men pulled out a gun and started beating the store owner, Jose Mata.

Jose has owned the store for ten years, and in those ten years, he says nothing like this has ever happened.

He went and hit me with a gun, and he was pulling the gun in front of my face. When he took me to the back I see the gun he had right [behind my head]," says Mata.

While that was going on the other crook stole jewelry from the display case.

After taking the jewelry, they went into the back office and took items from the safe.

Mata says they made off with about $15,000 in jewelry.

Both men left the store and were last seen getting into a tan/beige colored, early 2000's model, Chevy Tahoe.

Please call Fresno Police Detective Xiong at (559) 621-8079 and help catch these crooks before someone else gets hurt.

You can also call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP to remain anonymous and possibly collect a cash reward.
