Fresno P.D. arrests man who was caught on camera stealing a woman's purse

A man was caught on camera riding up to a woman and stealing her purse before she even knew what happened. (Lancer's)

UPDATE, January 20, 2018 6:09 p.m.: The Fresno Police Department says it has arrested the man who was caught on camera riding up to a woman and stealing her purse.

Police say after a long investigation they were able to identify the man as 30-year-old Michael Chavez.

Detectives say they found out Chavez was on active parole for burglary.

Chavez admitted to detective's that he stole the woman's purse and was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony theft and a parole violation.

It happened in broad daylight.

A man was caught on camera riding up to a woman and stealing her purse before she even knew what happened.

Lancer's Bar & Grill posted the security footage to its Facebook page in hopes of finding the crook.

It says the incident happened Friday, January 5th, around 12:00 p.m.

Lancer's says the woman was a new employee at Martinizing Cleaners the way and was on her break when the man stole her purse.
