Caught On Camera: Crook waits until store closes to take cash at gunpoint

Caruthers Dollar General Robbery | VIDEO: Fresno County Sheriff's Dept.

On March 11th, a man was caught on camera entering the Dollar General Store in Caruthers around 9:50 P.M. just before the store closed.

Deputies say the two employees finished closing the store for the night. The employees did not know the man was in the store as he was hiding in the back storage room.

Investigators say after he came out of hiding the man waited for an employee to pass by. When the worker did, he 'caught her by surprise and pointed a gun at her.'

At gunpoint, deputies say he ordered her to fill a bag with cash from the register and a safe.

Deputies say neither of the employees were injured. Investigators described the man:

He is described as being white, 5’7”, 185 lbs.
The suspect wore a two-tone black and gray jacket with blue jeans. He placed the hood over his head and covered his face so the employees and surviellance cameras were not able to get a clear look at him.

If you have any information on this, you're asked to call Detective Eddie Cantu of the Fresno County Sheriff's Department at (559) 600-8390 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867) where a $1,000 cash reward is available.
