Transgender woman killed in central Fresno shooting

Fourth Street is closed from Belmont to Grant while police investigate a fatal shooting (FOX26)

The Coroner’s Office has released the name of the person killed at Belmont and Fourth Street in Fresno as 34-year-old Imer Eliu Alvarado of Fresno.

While the victim identified as a woman, the Coroner’s Office identifies gender based on a person’s documentation available, such as driver's license or birth certificate.


Fourth Street was closed from Belmont to Grant after a transgender woman was shot and killed Wednesday morning.

Police say they were alerted to the shooting by ShotSpotter around 3 a.m. Officers say it started as a fight in an alley that ended in the shooting.

Officers found the woman shot, but the she died at the hospital. She was 34 years old.

No arrests have been made.
