September is Hunger Action Month, so take action
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) —
Despite the fact that California feeds much of the nation, the Central Valley has one of the highest rates of hunger in the country.
September is Hunger Action Month and the Community Food Bank is showing ways you can take action to stop hunger in the Valley.
Jim De La Vega spent the morning at the Community Food Bank where there is multiple ways you can help.
One in four adults and one in three kids go hungry on a daily basis.
Kym Dildine with the food bank said a $1 donation will help provide 7 meals.
Kym also talked about the backpack program where 700 hand-selected children in Fresno take home a backpack full of food on Friday, then bring it back to be refilled the next Friday.
Community Food Bank will be with KMJ Radio at The Market on Herndon and West in Fresno on Friday, September 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the 4th Annual Feeding Families Fund Drive.
