Farm To Fork: Figs
MADERA, Calif. (FOX26) —
Rich Kreps, a certified crop advisor with Ultra Gro talking with Kevin Herman with The Specialty Crop Company.
In this segment of Farm To Fork, we talk about figs.
Rick says The Specialty Crop Company is the largest grower of fresh and dried figs in the world.
Most people don't know this, but figs are very high in calcium, fiber and potassium. Kevin says per unit of measure they have more calcium than milk, more fiber than prunes and more potassium than bananas.
So the next time you're trying to decide what fruit to put on your salad or on even on your plate, give a nod to your local fig grower.
