Wanted - Merced Man Accused of Sexually Abusing A Little Girl
MERCED, Calif. (KMPH) —
A Merced family has raised thousands of dollars to help find the man accused of sexually abusing a child.
One of Merced Police's most wanted is Lonnie Lee Poslof. Detectives say he's accused of being a child sexual predator and officers have been looking for him for a year.
"You can't even imagine the nightmares that go on," says Bobby, a relative of the child, "Looking as you're driving down the street because you might see him or the victim talking about how scary it is that he's going to come to her house."
Bobby is the family member of the little girl Poslof is accused of sexually abusing. KMPH Fox 26 News is not using Bobby's last name to protect the girl's identity.
Police say Poslof has been on the run for more than a year, so the child's family raised $2000 in reward money.
"We have a really tight knit family and so we raised the extra money hoping that somebody will give the information to help catch him," adds Bobby.
According to detectives, Poslof is accused of sexually abusing the 4 year-old girl in the spring of 2013. Detectives say in June of 2013 after the police report was filed, Poslof took off to Tennessee. Then when the arrest warrant was issued in July 2013 officers say he disappeared.
"It's been horrible," says Bobby, "We've had quite a few medical problems due to this and there's been a lot of therapy. We're told that therapy won't stop the PTSD and it's going to be years before things can go back to normal. So, it's been very difficult."
Investigators say Poslof has been accused of being a child predator before. They say a 4 year-old girl, 6 year-old girl and 11 year-old boy accused Poslof of sexually abusing them. Detectives say the children belong to women Poslof was in relationships with. However, there was not enough evidence to file charges.
Bobby says since no one can find Poslof, she hopes the reward money will help catch him.
"I'm a firm believer that pedophiles are not curable," says Bobby, "I think that being behind bars would be the best for him, for his safety and children's safety."
Detectives say Poslof is wanted on a $1.6-million dollar warrant. The U.S. Marshals are also helping search for Poslof.
