Wanted Man Beaten Up By Residents, After Man Follows Little Girl
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
Police say a wanted parole got more than he bargained for after he tried to stop a 7-year-old girl from walking to the store.
Police say 20-year-old Christopher Galaviz was tackled and held down by the family of the 7 year old.
Police say Galaviz, a wanted parolee, was following the girl and then tried to prevent her from passing by him.
7-year-old Krystal Lopez says, "I was walking in the store and went out the back door. I was standing right there, and he wouldn't let me go home."
The quick-thinking 7 year old ran to people pumping gas.
Surveillance video from inside the store shows the clerk and others then called police and the girl's mother.
Cassandra Rios is the mother of Krystal Lopez. Cassandra says, "I'm not going to let her go to the store no more. I don't know it just hurts me seeing her crying like that; that guy tried to get her."
Meanwhile, the 20 year old ended up walking away from the store.
He got about two or three blocks away, when he was confronted by the 7 year old's family members.
They jumped out of their car, tackled him to the ground and held him in a pile of leaves until police arrived.
However, that is not all.
The entire neighborhood came out to help.
Kayla Avalos held down the man.
She says, "My dad was chasing him, and then I see the guy running down. Then my sister was chasing him, and I got him down on the ground, and I started beating him up."
Galaviz is in the Fresno County Jail.
Police say no charges will be filed against the family of the 7 year old.
Police say it is understandable they were just protecting the child.
