Valley Drought 2014: Water Wasters Could Be Fined $500 Per Day

If you're caught wasting water outdoors, it could now cost you.

New restrictions proposed by state regulators show it could be as much as $500 a day.

Examples cited are: over watering your lawn, hosing down sidewalks, or washing cars without a nozzle on the hose.

Violations would be considered infractions, and tickets could be written by just about any public employee in law enforcement.

The State Water Resources Control Board will meet next week to consider emergency regulations made public on Tuesday.

So far, the board says water conservation efforts have produced disappointing results.
