Top Fresno State Assistant To NFL

Tim McDonald is leaving Fresno State after one season with the Bulldogs, taking a job as defensive backs coach for the New York Jets.

Head coach Tim DeRuyter was hoping to keep his staff of assistants in tact at least through next season.{} But DeRuyter must now find a replacement for the man credited with developing the Bulldogs' secondary into a ball-hawking group that came up with 22 interceptions.

DeRuyter already has a couple of top prospects in mind from a list of candidates. He says he will announce McDonald's replacement sometime after signing day on February 6th.

A Fresno native, McDonald starred at Edison High School, USC, the Arizona Cardinals and the 49ers.

This is his first job as an assistant coach in the NFL.
