Missing in the Mountains: Searches Continue for Two Hikers

FRESNO{}(AP) - Rescue teams resumed separate searches Sunday for two hikers missing in California's Sierra Nevada.

More ground crews were called in and two more helicopters are joining the search for Larry Conn, a 53-year-old Southern California man who left on a hike in the Inyo National Forest on Oct. 19.

Officials say Conn was hiking in a rugged wilderness area in the eastern Sierra that included a climb over the Taboose Pass.

A separate search was also underway for a 52-year-old Visalia man who disappeared during a backpacking trip in the Sierra.

Officials say Matthew Hanson, described as an experienced backpacker, is missing in a rugged area near Shaver Lake, about 80 miles northeast of Fresno.
