Son-In-Law of Merced Police Chief Arrested

The son-in-law of the Merced police chief is charged with killing an Atwater man.

The Merced Police Department says 36-year-old Jesse Saucido was arrested Friday in the death of 55-year-old Jack Kline.

Back in March, the two men got into an argument over noise during a comedy routine started at the Merced Theatre.

Police say the two confronted each other and Kline got punched.

Kline was treated and released from a Merced hospital but died a few days later.

Merced police say Chief Norman Andrade immediately recused himself from the case.

Saucido was arrested on charges of manslaughter and the case will be turned over to the Merced County District Attorney's Office, who will decide whether to file charges.
