Small Security Cameras Catch Burglars In The Act

Burglars are getting caught breaking into Valley homes red handed. Police say it's thanks to small, security cameras that are becoming more popular.

Recent burglaries in Visalia and Clovis were solved right away. Officers say it's because people are using home monitoring systems that alert them whenever there's movement in their homes.

Stores that sell the cameras say they are becoming more popular, because they're cheap and easy to use.

"As you can see we have a hard time keeping them on the shelf. We have several that we have to order from the warehouse right now, because we're almost always selling out," says J.D. Brown from Best Buy.

Even though so many are selling out, finding a camera to buy is pretty simple. In addition to Best Buy a quick search online shows the cameras for sale at Target, Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and several other stores.

Hooking up the camera is simple. All you have to do is plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi, and download the app and type in your email address."

People who have the cameras in their homes say what they like about them are they can control the camera through their phones. When the camera detects motion it sends an email or a text alert to your phone. After you receive an alert all you have to do is click on the camera's app and start watching and recording.

Since the cameras are becoming so popular there are now several makes and models that range from $79 to $179.
