Probation For Oakhurst Woman Convicted Of Hitting Small Puppy
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) —
A 39-year-old Oakhurst woman who was convicted of animal cruelty was sentenced to three years of felony probation, the Madera County District Attorney announced.
Sierra Division of the Madera Superior Court at Bass Lake judge sentenced Janice Aguilar on Tuesday. Aguilar entered a guilty plea in March for the felony charge.
Prosecutors said Aguilar held a small puppy on the ground and punched it repeatedly until its eye was dislocated from its socket.
Aguilar was also sentenced to 76 in custody at the Madera County Department of Corrections. She was given 76 days credit for the time she already served, the district attorneys office said.
Under court order, Aguilar will not be allowed to own or posses any animals while on probation.
