Pot Bust: 2 Marijuana Gardens Found Growing Near A Madera Elementary School

Madera County law enforcement officials on Thursday removed 180 marijuana plants from two gardens growing near an elementary school.

The two 1,0000-square-foot gardens were discovered on North Lake Street, just 750 feet away from James Monroe Elementary School.

Two people were found tending the gardens when law enforcement officials arrived, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said. The identities of the two people were not released.

The plants had an estimated street value of $240,000.
