Police Shoot And Kill Man In Huron, CA

A man was shot and killed by a police officer in Huron early Monday morning.

The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. near Los Angeles and Cherry streets, a Fresno County Sheriff's Office spokesman said.

According to reports, the police officer stopped a man in his late 20's riding a bicycle in the area. The man, whose name is not being released, then attempted to ride away from the officer, but crashed a short distance away.

The man pulled a small-caliber handgun on the officer after the officer finally caught up with him. The officer then fired several rounds at the man, striking him multiple times, the Sheriff's Office said.

The officer was not hurt and Fresno County sheriff's detectives are interviewing neighbors.{}
