Pat Summerall, NFL Broadcasting Legend, Dead at 82

Pat Summerall has died at the age of 82. {}Summerall and partner John Madden were the most popular and powerful broadcasting team in the NFL for many years. {}Summerall worked 16 Super Bowls, including eight with Madden. {}

Summerall worked for CBS sports before moving over to Fox in 1994. {}Summerall and Madden called the highest rated sports program of all time, the 1982 game where nearly half of the country was watching.

He also spent ten years as a player in the NFL, mostly as a placekicker.

Summerall also called The Master's Golf Tournament and the US Open Tennis Championship for CBS for several years.

A cause of death has not yet been released.
