Northeast Fresno Shooting Under Investigation

Fresno police are looking for who shot a man in a Northeast Fresno neighborhood Sunday morning.

The shooting took place around 10:30 AM on East Sierra Madre Avenue and North 1st Street.

Neighbor Jody Davis says she ran outside as soon as she heard the gunshots go off.

"Scared to death too close to home," is how Davis describes her experience.

Davis says she caught a glimpse of the shooter as he ran toward a fence and jumped over it.

"I walked across the fence ... across the street to see if everybody was okay because I kept on hearing a lady say ... my son was shot," said Davis.

The victim was hit and was rushed to the hospital.

Police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood, and went door to door searching for leads.

But neighbors, like Davis, say the violence is becoming too common in the neighborhood.

Just two weeks ago, a man was shot a block over in the parking lot of the Fashion Fair mall.

"If I had a way I would be out of this area to a safer area," said Davis.

Police are working off several leads, but have not yet made any arrests.

As for the victim, his identity and condition have not yet been released.{}
