New Diabetes Test - No More Pricked Fingers

Forget pricking your finger to check your blood sugar. While it may be a dream right now, it could be a reality in the coming years. A new sensor could make testing blood sugar much easier for diabetics.

Scientists at Brown University created a new sensor that uses saliva instead of blood. It uses light metal and a special enzyme that changes color when exposed to blood sugar.

But the sensor won't be available anytime soon. Approval from the Food and Drug Administration is expected to take a long time, as scientists verify the sensor's accuracy.
