Police Shoot Valley Man: Victim's Name Released
HURON, Calif. (KMPH) —
The Fresno County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man fatally shot by a Huron police officer on Monday morning.
Pedro Najar Murillo, 25, of Huron, was shot by a Huron police after shortly before 3 a.m. near the intersection of Cherry and Los Angeles streets.
A Sheriff's Office report says that Murillo pointed a small-caliber handgun at the officer and attempted to shoot the officer, but the single round in Murillo's gun failed to discharge.
Initial reports from the Sheriff's Office said the officer, whose name has not been released, fired several rounds at Murillo, striking him multiple times.
Witnesses reported seeing Murrillo in the area armed with the handgun, shortly before the officer confronted him, the sheriff's office said.
