After 28 years, police say a Fresno man has been arrested for the murder of a Santa Clara County woman.

On January 18th, 1985, the strangled body of 21-year-old Saba Girmai was found in a dumpster in the community of Mountain View. Although the investigation was frequently revisited during the following years, no significant leads were developed.

Then on January 12th, 2010, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Crime Laboratory developed a DNA profile from the victims fingernails. The resulting profile matched a now 53-year-old convicted offender named Daniel Garcia, who had previously never been linked to Girmai.

In 2011, MVPD and the newly-created D.A.'s Cold Case Unit began to reinvestigate the case.

Police say that after being extensively interviewed, Garcia was booked for murder.
