Missing Yosemite Employee Found Safe
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (KMPH) —
Officials at Yosemite National Park say an employee who was reported missing after she didn't show up for her first day of work over the weekend has been found safe.
Search and rescue teams located 23-year-old Jessica Rose Garcia as she was hiking off-trail approximately two miles up the South Fork Drainage of the Merced River around 1 p.m. Tuesday, park spokesman Scott Gediman said.
Garcia appeared to be okay, but was taken to an area hospital to get checked out, Gediman said.
Park officials say Garcia failed to show up for work at the Wawona Hotel on Sunday. Rangers checked her park residence later that day and found she was not there; that's when search and rescue teams were brought in to help look for her.
The park's helicopter, several dog teams and approximately 50 people were involved in the search.
